ABC News 4 and East Cooper Habitat for Humanity partnered to build a home for Jennifer Thomas and her three sons on Bobo Road in Mount Pleasant. ABC News 4 committed to generating a minimum of $50,000 in home building materials, goods, labor and services from local and national vendors to build the home from the bottom up.

On January 15, 2006, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, ABC News 4 kicked off the Home 4 Life project by airing both live and pre-produced coverage on all ABC News 4 programs (Good Morning Charleston, Good Morning America, Lowcountry Live!, Seven O’Clock News, and abcnews4.com).  The finale aired on March 17, 2007 and included live coverage of Thomas signing her mortgage documents and receiving the keys to her new 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home.  ABC News 4 also aired a 30-minutes special, recapping the entire Home 4 Life Project on Tuesday, April 3rd.
