AmeriCorps is the national service program that provides thousands of individuals of all ages and backgrounds with education awards in exchange for a year (a minimum of 1700 hours) of community service. AmeriCorps members help meet the nation's critical needs in the areas of public safety, education, human needs and the environment. East Cooper Habitat for Humanity is now accepting applications for an AmeriCorps*National Direct member to serve during the 2010-2011 service year.  The selected member will serve as volunteer coordinator/construction assistant.

Members are required to serve 1,700 hours during the 10 month service year.  In return, members receive a living allowance, health benefits and an education award (upon successful completion of the service year).
